I am very sorry indeed at not being able to attend the meeting of last Wednesday. The reason for it, as I am sure my colleague will have told you,  is that my plane from Brussels was over two hours late and I could not catch an earlier flight.

As you well know, I was in the Belgian capital to meet Mr. ______ [state name], a European Commission Policy Adviser, and an essential element in the contract we are presently negotiating together. In fact, he is the one to get us the authorization for a European diffusion of the product we are jointly developing.

May I add that my trip, and therefore my missing our appointment, was however very fruitful as I was able to convince Mr. _____ [state name] to give his support to our project. It may not be an excuse for my absence, but I think it is in the case a good compensation.

Thanks in advance for sending me a copy of the minutes which I look forward to receive at your earliest convenience.
