  • 1.       When was JFK born and what was his (family) background?

    JFK was born in 1917.  He was the second child.  His parents were both from Irish Catholic families in Boston, Massachusettes.  His grandfather , Patrick Kennedy , was a self-made man.  Hw was born poor  but became rich as a banker and was elected to Congress.  His other grandfather , John Fitzerald , was Mayor of Boston and also a congressman. 

     

    2.       What are his contributions , and achievements?

    He made a passionate defence of liberty and peace.  JFK was president of the usa for less than three years only.  But his influence was immense in the usa and the rest of the world.  He created the Peace corps, where Americans could volunteer to help on projects in developing countries.  Every one remembers by what he said “Ask not what your countr y can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.   He worked to end the terrible discrimination suffered by Africa n  Americans.   He encourage the NASA’s space program to send its astronauts to the Moon.  He worked on difficult relations with the soviet union, crisis over cuba and the berlin wall.

     

    3.       How was jfk killed?

    In November 1963 , kennedy was preparing to campaign for re-election. He was going to give a speech in Dallas, texas on 22nd November.   He was to drive through the city with the first lady in an open-topped car.   At 12:30, he was shot in the head, and he died 30 minutes later.  The exact cause (motive) for killing him is still a mystery.

     

    4.       Who is considered as a symbol of political legacy of JFK? Amd why?

    JFK had young adored children in the white house.  He  was a democratic president.  The country has now again a  Democratic president with a young family in the white house.   JFK fought against the racial discrimination on African Americans.  It is seen a consequence of his efforts, that now America has a black president.  So B O is considered as JFK’s political legacy.

    5.       Describe JFK’s political career.

    JFK was a military hero.  He decided to run for congress during the world war II.   He was elected in 1946.  In 1952 he became a senator.  In 1960 he won the presidential election for the democratic party (the American left).  He was the president for less than three years, as he was assassinated in 1963.
